Over Memorial Day weekend, we went to Yosemite with Angela's family for some tent-cabin-camping and exploring. It's a long, interesting drive there from the Bay Area and there was a lot of traffic. If you can pick a weekend to go, reconsider and pick a weekday.
The first day we did a 7-8 mile hike up to Vernal and Nevada falls and then back down the Mist Trail.
Here we are looking sweaty and happy. What you can't see in this picture is my ankle which had been steadily getting bigger during this hike. I rolled it after the first mile on smooth section of paved trail. Maybe I stepped on a spec of dust wrong.
Here we are with the whole family the next day. My funny face is because of the ankle. Moments before this picture was taken, they were wheeling me around in a rented wheel chair.
The cool part of this trip was that Angela and Chris got to clamber over a fresh rock-fall to a section of trail with no tourists (a huge deal for that weekend). Next time, I'm going to wait a few days before injuring myself so I don't miss out!
